Dr. Shegu Gilbert is a Consultant Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon with extensive experience in cardiac and thoracic surgeries. He specializes in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, ECMO, and high-risk surgical care. He is known for pioneering innovations including the MID technique for tension pneumomediastinum management and the ambidextrous carbodissection technique for internal mammary artery harvesting (“Gilbert’s technique”). He has extensive experience in lung and mediastinal surgeries, thoracic trauma, and vascular procedures, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.
