PROCESS
The International Patient Department at Amara Hospital was established to assist patients in planning and preparing their travel plans to the hospital. At Amara Hospital, we strive not only to provide world-class medical care and procedures, but also to ensure that you feel most comfortable and at ease during your treatment with us.

Throughout our website, we try our best to keep you informed about our procedures, specialties, doctors and hospitals. If you are planning to consider Amara Hospital as one of your preferred destinations for medical treatment, take some time to discover the technologies, competencies, services and facilities we offer. If you are interested in a particular specialty hospital, but you are unsure of your choice, you can contact a representative for further guidance.
Once you have selected a treatment location, discuss with an International Representative or online doctor and submit your inquiries including medical reports and history. Amara Hospital is made up of a large group of internationally qualified doctors and healthcare professionals, ensuring every patient receives the best possible care and treatment. With our medical fraternity representing more than 21 medical specialties and a large number of doctors, we provide a Find a Doctor section for our patients. This section allows you to conveniently search and browse the profiles of each medical practitioner.
We aim to respond to any inquiries within 48 hours. Please note that depending on the nature of the question, we may ask further clarifying questions to provide the most accurate response. This is also the case when your doctor may ask your medical records to communicate about available treatment options.
For patients traveling abroad for medical treatment for the first time, the following are useful:

- Check with your current doctor, or get a free online consultation with Amara Hospital doctors to determine
if you are eligible to travel abroad in your current health and medical condition. - Once you decide to continue your treatment overseas, be sure to tell your local doctor to continue
follow-up in your home country. - Learn more about procedures including; what are your expectations and what can be achieved from the operation. Check
with your doctor what to expect during your recovery and if any physical therapy is needed. - New patients must send a copy of their passport (including staff) to receive a Visa invitation letter from
hospital. After the patient receives the hospital invitation letter, it is very important to share their flight
itineraries with International Representatives. - Bring along your important documents including Visa, immunization records, MRI scans and other medicals
document. (For a complete list of required documents, see our Required Documents section.) - At the airport, the hospital staff will arrange an airport pick-up service for the patient in addition to the hotel
accompaniment.
If you prefer to stay in a hotel near a hospital during your treatment, the International Patient Division can assist you with room arrangements, within your preferred budget. Contact the International Representative prior to your travel period for more details.
Upon arrival at the hospital, please note that you are required to present your passport at the registration counter to complete your patient registration at the hospital. The hospital will keep a copy of your passport (photo page and Visa) for your hospital records. Please note that this is a mandatory step as per the directives of the Government of India.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
When planning to travel abroad, it is important to prepare and bring the necessary documents for ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.

Here is a list of documents that you need to bring before your departure to India:
- Report your medical/medical history or any statements relating to past or ongoing treatment sessions.
- Photocopy of Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Fever, Polio, etc.), X-ray, MRI, immunization records, prescription,
and relevant medical documents including records of previous operations. Make sure you have this medical report and
related drugs with you at all times in your bag or carry-on baggage. - Passport and Visa are a must; check with our International Travel Desk regarding Visa requirements, depending on
the country you are traveling to. - Bring local currency, travelers checks, and/or credit and debit cards.
VISA
Foreign patients can refer to the Indian Immigration Bureau website to learn more about Indian Visa requirements and regulations here.

Notes :
Patients from Pakistan and Bangladesh are required to complete their registration within the first 24 hours in Nearest Police/Commissioner Station.
Visa and Transit documents and instructions are further provided by an Amara Hospital International Patient Care Representative. For specific questions and help with preparation your travel documents, simply click on the get visa letter icon to speak with our International Representative.
LIABILITY
At Amara Hospital, we work with a number of International Insurance providers. You can get a list from the International Patient Desk/Admissions Counter or contact the International Representative to learn more. As a side note, we are unable to process or accept foreign insurance coverage that is not listed.
Insurance coverage for companies on our list applies only to inpatient procedures (48 hours of hospitalization) and approval from the insurance provider is required. A deposit is required upon entry to the inpatient billing department. The deposit amount will be refunded once your insurance provider allows payment of the treatment. If insurance coverage is not provided within 48 hours of admission, you will need to pay the hospital bill and claim reimbursement from your insurance provider at a later date.
