About the Role:
The ICU Incharge Nurse is responsible for supervising and coordinating all nursing activities within the Intensive Care Unit. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality critical care services, oversees ICU nursing staff, maintains clinical standards, monitors patient care plans, and coordinates with doctors, technicians, and other departments. The Incharge Nurse plays a crucial role in managing critical patients, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient functioning of the ICU.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong clinical expertise in critical care nursing
- Ability to assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients
- Excellent leadership, team supervision, and mentoring skills
- Strong decision-making ability in high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of ICU equipment such as ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, etc.
- Familiarity with ICU protocols, emergency procedures, and critical care guidelines
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and quality standards
- Proficiency in medical documentation and hospital information systems
- BLS and ACLS certification preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all nursing operations in the ICU
- Ensure proper assessment, monitoring, and care of critically ill patients
- Supervise ICU nursing staff, assign duties, and monitor performance
- Coordinate with intensivists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure correct use and maintenance of ICU medical equipment
- Monitor adherence to ICU protocols, policies, and clinical standards
- Review patient care plans, medication administration, and treatment updates
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in patient records
- Maintain adequate stock of drugs, consumables, and emergency supplies
- Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety protocols
- Conduct training sessions and guide nursing staff on critical care practices
- Handle patient/attender queries and ensure quality patient experience
- Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and clinical meetings
- Ensure readiness for emergencies and efficient response to critical situations
